چکیده

The use of larvicides, especially in endemic regions, is recommended for malaria control. However, due to the excessive synthetic resistance mosquitoes and environmental pollution have been challenges. In current study, nanoliposome containing clove cinnamon essential oils their major ingredients, i.e., eugenol cinnamaldehyde, were first prepared; particle size successful loading investigated using DLS (Dynamic Light Scattering) ATR-FTIR (Attenuated Total Reflection-Fourier Transform InfraRed) analysis. Larvicidal effects nanoliposomes nonformulated samples then against Anopheles stephensi. best-observed efficacy (LC50 5.4 μg/mL) was related with a 109 ± 4 nm. LC50 values other three nanoformulations also around 10 μg/mL; all four prepared thus introduced as natural larvicides further investigations field conditions.

Larvicidal and knockdown effects of some essential oils against Culex quinquefasciatus Say, Aedes aegypti (L.) and Anopheles stephensi (Liston)

Efficacy of 25 essential oils was screened against filarial vector, Culex quinquefasciatus, for their larvicidal and knockdown effects in a preliminary study. Of these, 8 oils viz. calamus oil, cinnamon oil, citronella oil, clove oil, eucalyptus oil, lemon oil, mentha oil and orange oil exhibited 100% larvicidal activity at 1000 ppm and 100% knockdown effect at 10% concentration. These 8 oils w...

Larvicidal activities of some Iranian native plants against the main malaria vector, Anopheles stephensi.

Malaria is considered a major health problem in Iran. There are different methods for vector control. In this study we tested the larvicidal effects of some Iranian plants. The methanolic extracts of 11 plants were prepared with percolation method. The larvicidal activities of them against malaria vector, Anopheles stephensi were studied using World Health Organization standard method. All LC50...
